The European Banking Authority (EBA) published today the technical package for phase 2 of version 3.3 of its reporting framework. The technical package provides standard specifications and includes the validation rules, the Data Point Model (DPM) and the XBRL taxonomies for this phase of version 3.3.

Today, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen met with Turkish Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek and Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye Governor Hafize Gaye Erkan on the sidelines of the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting. Secretary Yellen discussed with the Minister and the Governor Türkiye’s economic outlook and policy direction. They also discussed how Türkiye and the U.S. can work together, including in the G20, to address global economic issues and advance prosperity in our respective economies.

EBA Notes A Decrease In EU Banks’ Asset Encumbrance Ratio During 2022

- The EU banking sector’s asset encumbrance weighted average decreased during 2022 with a ratio at 25.8%, close to the average pre-pandemic levels.
- EU banks limited their reliance on central bank funding as they gradually repaid central bank facilities. Repurchase agreements were the major source of encumbrance followed by covered bonds.
- There has been an increase in the amount in the amount of unencumbered central bank eligible assets and collateral increased by more than EUR 700bn to EUR 5tn.

US$742m Inflows Over The Last 4 Weeks, Investors Maintain Focus On Bitcoin - CoinShares: Fund Flows

- Digital asset investment products saw US$137m of inflows last week. Following a few late updates to prior weekly data, inflows for the last 4 weeks now total US$742m, representing the largest run of inflows since the final quarter of 2021.
- Bitcoin saw inflows totalling US$140m, comprising 99% of all inflows. While short bitcoin investment products saw a 12th week of outflows of US$3.2m.
- The recent price appreciation in Ethereum has not been followed with inflows, with US$2m outflows last week, remaining the asset with the most outflows year-to-date.

ETFGI Reports Assets Invested In The Global ETFs Industry Reached A Record US$10.51 Trillion At The End Of June

ETFGI, a leading independent research and consultancy firm covering trends in the global ETFs ecosystem, reported today that assets invested in the global ETFs industry reached a record US$10.51 trillion at the end of June. During June the global ETFs industry gathered US$103.06 billion in net inflows, bringing year to date net inflows to US$376.19 Bn. Year-to-date assets have increased 13.5%, going from $9.26 Tn at end of 2022 to $10.51 Tn, according to ETFGI's June 2023 global ETFs and ETPs industry landscape insights report, the monthly report which is part of an annual paid-for research subscription service.
