Copenhagen Stock Exchange: Very Large Increase In Equity Trading During Danish Summer Holidays

In July, the value of trading on the equity market was DKK 73.0 billion in market prices, only exceeded by the turnover for March 2000 of DKK 85.1 billion. In average, the turnover for July amounted to an average of DKK 3.5 billion per trading day, an increase of no less than 159 per cent compared to the same month of last year and 25 per cent more than in June.

CBOE Continues Its Record-Breaking Pace In July

Trading volume at the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), the world's largest options exchange, continued at a record-setting pace in July with a total of 23,990,023 option contracts (15,939,018 calls and 8,051,005 puts) traded, a 27% increase over the year ago July volume of 18,838,239 contracts. Open interest in all CBOE listed options stood at 43,384,704 contracts at month's end, an incredible 78% more than the total of 24,417,811 contracts at the close of July last year.

Eurex, the international derivatives market, achieved turnover of 31.2 million contracts traded in July. Over 269 million contracts have already been traded at Eurex during the first seven months of the year, surpassing the previous year's seven-month total by 26 percent.
Commodity Futures Trading Commission Approves Nymex Demutualization Plan

CME Equity Index Products Set New July Monthly Volume Record - GLOBEX®2 Volume Rises 110 Percent Year-To-Date

Year-to-date trading volume on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) rose nearly 13 percent through July 31 to 135.7 million contracts, as July volume totaled 15.5 million. A new July monthly volume record was set in equity index products, with volume of more than 4 million contracts including a July record of 3.7 million equity index futures.
CBOT To Launch e-openoutcry.com On August 28, 2000

The Chicago Board of Trade today announced that e-openoutcry.com, the order entry system that routes orders direct to CBOT floor brokers, will be launched on August 28, 2000. E-openoutcry.com is the new browser-based order entry system that can be used by members and member firms in conjunction with the a/c/e trading platform or as a stand-alone order entry system.
