    The London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange (LIFFE) today announced the launch of Stock Futures, i.e. futures contracts on the shares of individual companies. Stock Futures contracts will be launched on the shares of leading UK, European and US companies from Monday 29 January 2001.

    At today's annual general meeting of the London Stock Exchange all of the directors standing were re-elected to the Board. Three directors were elected on a poll and the results of the ballot are: Gavin Casey, For: 9,462,218 (56.3%), Against: 7,337,778 (43.7%); Michael Marks, For: 11,445,231(73.1%), Against: 4,215,420 (26.9%); Don Cruickshank, For: 10,984,563 (66.5%), Against: 5,525,408 (33.5%).
