Foreign Agricultural Representatives To Visit KCBT

The Foreign Agricultural Service division of the USDA has developed an annual field trip for the agricultural representatives at the embassies in Washington, D.C. and will be bringing participants in this tour to the Kansas City Board of Trade on Monday, June 4. This year's trip focuses on Kansas and Iowa, and will include visits to farms, grain storage facilities, and meetings with agribusiness officials and government officials. Eurex Turns Over 53.8 Million Contracts In May - Third-Highest Total In Monthly Volume - New Record In Stock Options Segment

Eurex, the international derivatives market, posted its third-highest monthly total to date with 53.8 million contracts traded in May. This represents an increase of 20 percent over the volume traded in May last year. Eurex is thus continuing its highly favorable trend this year. Over 271 million contracts have already been traded at Eurex during the first five months of trading this year.

EEX Turns Over 1.6 Twh In Integrated Spot And Futures Market In May - Record Turnover In Spot Market - New Trading Participant

EEX European Energy Exchange reported its turnover figures for the month of May on Friday, showing that 1.64 terawatt hours (TWh) of electricity were traded on the integrated spot and futures market. EEX is thus continuing to expand its position as the largest and most liquid electricity exchange in Continental Europe. A record volume of 1.04 TWh was posted in the spot market in May, roughly 600.000 MWh were traded in the futures market.

CME May Volume Up Nearly 60 Percent As Open Interest Surpasses 13 Million - GLOBEX®2 Volume Increases 133 Percent

Trading volume on Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) in May marked the second-busiest month in the exchange's 103-year history, with 33.3 million contracts traded, a 59.4 percent increase over May 2000. Year-to-date, CME volume of 157.8 million represents an increase of 58.4 percent over 2000.

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) today announced that as of 1:00 p.m. CDT, trading volume in the iShares SM S&P 100® Index Fund (ticker symbol OEF) was 205,100 shares, exceeding the previous single-day record of 174,600 shares, set on March 22, 2001.

386 Billion Euros In Turnover On The German Stock Exchanges In May - Xetra Record In MDAX Stocks

A total volume of 386 billion euros was traded on the German stock exchanges in May, about five percent higher than the previous month’s figure (369 billion euros in April). The total comprises roughly 289 billion euros in equities, warrants and exchange-traded funds, and about 98 billion euros in fixed-income securities. About 89.5 percent of the total equities turnover nationwide is posted through Xetra and on the floor of FWB Frankfurter Wertpapierbörse, the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
