  • Standard & Poor's Announces Changes In The S&P/ASX 50 Index

    Standard & Poor's will make the following changes in the S&P/ASX 50 Index effective after the close of trading Friday 26th March, 2004: Origin Energy Limited (Australia, SEDOL: 6214861, GICS Code: 10102010) a member of the S&P/ASX 50 Index will increase its shares by 4,280,812 to 655,057,972. This change is due to the addition of shares issued pursuant to the company's dividend reinvestment plan. There is no change to the IWF.

    No changes to country status to take effect in 2004 Shadow indices to be introduced in March 2005 The results of FTSE's public consultation on the treatment of countries within global benchmarks have been announced. The consultation, conducted in December 2003, has revealed widespread support for the proposal for a more transparent, objective and consistent treatment of countries being assigned as developed or emerging markets.

    Turnover The total turnover on all market segments of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange (LJSE) amounted to SIT 28.2 billion in February 2004, which was14.4% less than in January 2004 and remained on the level of the last year's monthly average. In comparison to February2003, the turnover increased by 6.8% (SIT1.8 billion). In February 2004, shares accounted for 67.3% of turnover, bonds contributed 19.1%, and shares of investment funds 13.6%. There were no transactions concluded
