    At the end of the settlement date of May 15, 2008, short interest in 2,641 NASDAQ Global Market(sm) securities totaled 9,500,539,527 shares compared with 9,427,457,178 shares in 2,653 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of April 30, 2008. The mid-May short interest represents 4.53 days average daily NASDAQ Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 4.86 days for the prior reporting period.

  • UK's Financial Services Authority Publishes Industry Feedback On Liquidity Requirements

    The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has today published feedback to its Discussion Paper (DP) on liquidity requirements for banks and building societies. The DP looked at ways that liquidity policy should develop and focussed on lessons learned following recent market conditions. Respondents broadly agreed with the policy objectives set out in the DP and with the FSA’s current high level standards and principles-based approach.
