The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced fraud charges and an asset freeze against a Highland Park, Ill.-based hedge fund manager and his firm for facilitating a multi-billion dollar Ponzi scheme operated by Minnesota businessman Thomas Petters.

Tokyo Commodity Exchange: Extending The Suspension Period Of Bait Order Generation Related To Standard Combination Order (SCO)

As previously announced on June 29 (2009 TOCOM Notice No.140), TOCOM has been suspending the generation of bait orders between Tuesday, June 30 to Friday, July 10 since the problem related to bait orders occurred. Meanwhile, the Exchange conducted the verification test after receiving the modified code from Nasdaq OMX on Tuesday, June 30.

SEC Charges Ameriprise In Fraudulent Scheme To Obtain Undisclosed Compensation - Ameriprise To Pay $17.3 Million To Settle SEC Charges

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced an enforcement action against Minneapolis-based broker-dealer Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc., for receiving millions of dollars in undisclosed compensation as a condition for offering and selling certain real estate investment trusts (REITs) to its brokerage customers. Ameriprise agreed to pay $17.3 million to settle the SEC's charges.

NYSE Arca, the all-electronic U.S. equities exchange of NYSE Euronext (NYX), today announced the launch of four Self-Trade Prevention (STP) modifiers for NYSE Arca equities customers. Designed to prevent unintended interaction between the same Exchange Traded Permit IDs (ETP ID), STP modifiers allow customers to voluntarily restrict their orders from executing with their same ETP ID.
