SIFMA, SIFMA AMG Express Strong Concerns With SEC Proposed Rules On Predictive Data Analytics

SIFMA and SIFMA AMG today submitted a letter to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on the proposed rules that would require the elimination or neutralization of the use of predictive data analytics (PDA) and PDA-like technologies by Broker-Dealers and RIAs. SIFMA strongly urges the Commission not to move forward with the proposed framework, and instead consider more appropriate ways to address potential risks related to the use of PDA-like technologies.

The end of September short interest represents 2.94 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 3.23 days for the prior reporting period.

Today, the Commission adopted final rules to shorten the deadlines by which beneficial owners of a company — those who own more than 5 percent of the company — must inform the public of their position. I am pleased to support this adoption because it updates these reporting requirements for modern markets, ensures investors receive material information in a timely way, and reduces information asymmetries.

The Commission has approved amendments to shorten the filing deadlines for initial and amended beneficial ownership reports filed on Schedules 13D and 13G.[1] The final amendments reflect consideration of the concerns raised by commenters in response to the proposal.[2]
