    Volume in the Chicago Mercantile Exchange's E-mini S&P 500 futures contract reached a record 82,817 contracts Feb. 28, as electronically traded volume in all equity index products rose to a record 114,439 contracts.

  • CME Expands Daily Price Limit On Nikkei 225 Index

    The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) has expanded the daily price limit for its Nikkei 225 index contracts to 1,500 index points effective with the start of trading tomorrow, March 1.

  • CLEARNET SBF SA Closer To Becoming Central Counterparty For Trades In Italian Government Securities.

    CLEARNET SBF SA, the central counterpart and netting organisation for regulated and OTC markets in France, is set to become the clearing house for MTS cash trades in Italian government debt. CLEARNET will also be clearing MTS sell/buy backs in Italian government debt.

  • Central Bank Of Iceland Weekly Repo Auction

    The Central Bank of Iceland held a weekly auction of repurchase agreements on February 29 of the standard maturity of 14 days. The auction was a fixed rate one at 10.1 per cent p.a. Offers were made for a total amount of 14.3 billion krónur resulting in repurchase contracts for that amount.

    Today, Monday 28 February 2000, the Sydney Futures Exchange Clearing House (SFECH) successfully implemented an Exchange Settlement Account (ESA) with the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA). SFECH has received the first such approval under the RBA's new access arrangements.

  • Minneapolis Wheat Posts Record Daily Trading Volume

    Hard red spring wheat futures posted record trading volume on Friday, February 25, 2000. A total of 11,450 contracts traded. The previous daily volume record, established June 3, 1999, was 11,243 contracts. "With the rain beginning last week, wheat markets are taking out the weather premium that's been built in lately due to dry conditions across the Great Plains and Upper Midwest. Relief from dry conditions spurred selling," said Donald W. Wilson of Prudential Securities and first vice cha
