Debate bankers' bonuses and other economic issues with Othmar Karas
Banks are accused of causing the crisis, but this hasn't prevented some bankers from taking home ten times their base salary in bonuses. Parliament now wants to put a limit on these bonuses and in the coming months will be voting on a proposal on this. Ahead of this important vote vice-president Othmar Karas, an Austrian Christian-Democrat who is guiding the proposal through Parliament, agreed to discuss the plans with our fans on Facebook.

Hong Kong Exchange Renews Contract With NASDAQ OMX And Upgrades To INET-Based Trading Platform - HKEx Migrates To Genium INET Powered Platform For Derivatives Trading And Clearing

The NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc. (Nasdaq:NDAQ) announces that the Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing Ltd (HKEx) will upgrade its derivatives trading system (HKATS) and clearing system (DCASS) to NASDAQ OMX's Genium INET technology. In addition HKEx has extended its support contract with NASDAQ OMX for a further five years. The platform upgrade is scheduled to be in effect by fourth quarter of 2013.

European Summit: EESC President Urges Decision On Master Plan For Europe - Sustainable Growth And Employment Will Come Only Through Fiscal, Financial And Political Union

For EESC president Staffan Nilsson the moment of truth has come: “This is the final round for the euro and European integration; this time it cannot be just one more European summit because people have lost faith. Either the eurozone - with Europe in its wake - will make the quantum leap in integration or it will break apart.” Since the Lehmann brothers bankruptcy, the EESC has been calling for more European integration as the only appropriate response to the crisis. Now, after years of intergovernmentalism in Europe and with too many small, half-hearted steps, only a true master plan with a clear roadmap attached can save Europe from disintegration and disorder and pave the way for sustainable growth and employment.

STOXX Launches Euro iSTOXX 50 Equal Risk Index - New Index Initiated By And Licensed To Lyxor To Underlie Exchange-Traded Fund

STOXX Limited, the market-moving provider of innovative, tradable and global index concepts, today announced the launch of the EURO iSTOXX 50 Equal Risk Index. The new strategy index applies an equal risk contribution (ERC) concept to the EURO STOXX 50 Index in order to spread the overall risk of the portfolio equally between the 50 index components. The new index, which is based on the Modern Portfolio Theory, aims to achieve maximum risk diversification.

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) was responsible for regulating Kaupthing Singer and Friedlander Limited (“KSFL”), the UK based subsidiary of the Icelandic banking group Kaupthing Bank Hf (“KBHf”), prior to the failure of the Icelandic parent company, and the UK subsidiary being placed into administration on 8 October 2008. The parent company, KBHf, was regulated by the Icelandic regulator, the Icelandic Financial Supervisory Authority (FME).
