ESMA Issues Statement On Forbearance Practices

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has issued a Public Statement on the Treatment of Forbearance Practices in IFRS Financial Statements of Financial Institutions. The statement deals with the definition of forbearance practices, their impact on the impairment of financial assets and thespecific disclosures relating to forbearance activities that listed financial institutions should include in their IFRS financial statements for the year ending 31 December 2012.

Election Of Members To The Sanction Commission Of SIX Swiss Exchange

The Sanction Commission was founded at the end of 2006. As such, the six-year term of its members will expire at the end of 2012. At its meetings of 26 October and 14 December 2012, the responsible electoral bodies – the Regulatory Board of SIX Swiss Exchange Ltd and the SIX Board of Directors – carried out the necessary elections and re-elections.

Nikkei-TOCOM Commodity Index To Be Renamed In February 2013

The Tokyo Commodity Exchange, Inc. (TOCOM) and Nikkei Inc. announced today a name change of the Nikkei-TOCOM Commodity Index as of February 12, 2013. This change only applies to the Japanese language name. The two companies have been jointly calculating and publishing the index since 2009.

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) today announced the opening of its Asia Pacific global data site headquartered in Singapore. The Singapore location is part of the global trio infrastructure designed to support DTCC’s Global Trade Repository services. The other two locations operate from the U.S. and Netherlands.

Thomson Reuters Creates Integrated Reuters Business Unit - Stephen J. Adler Named President And Editor-In-Chief Of Reuters - Steven Schwartz Named Managing Director, News Agency

Thomson Reuters today announced the formation of a new business unit that will combine the company’s existing editorial and news-related sales and marketing operations. Stephen J. Adler, who became editor-in-chief of Reuters in February 2011, has been appointed to run the new unit as president and editor-in-chief. Adler joined the company’s Professional Division in 2010 after five years leading BusinessWeek and 16 years at The Wall Street Journal.
