This month's highlights include:
- Dispersion for U.S. equities indices fell. The S&P 500® stayed
within its tightest monthly range since January 2007, many of the worst performing U.S. stocks by March end were those ending February with strongly positive momentum. - The dispersion of the S&P Europe 350® also fell and remains low
for broad Ex-U.S. developed indices. However, in a good month for emerging markets, dispersion increased considerably; now at the highest level for the past two years.

HKFE Announces Revised Margins For China Merchants Bank, CNOOC And China Telecom Futures

Hong Kong Futures Exchange Limited (HKFE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), has announced that with effect from the commencement of trading on Friday, 4 April 2014, the minimum margins to be collected by an Exchange Participant from its clients in respect of their dealings in the following futures contracts will be as outlined in the table below. The adjustments are based on the clearing company’s normal procedures and standard margining methodology.

Key Things Small Investors Should Be Told – European Parliament/Council Deal

Draft EU rules on key information small investors should be given before signing a contract were agreed by Parliament's negotiators and Council of Ministers representatives on Tuesday. Clear, comparable and complete information on investment products is to be provided in a mandatory, three-page A4 Key Information Document (KID). Parliament will put the agreed rules to a plenary vote in April.

HKEx Listing Nominating Committee Extends Application Period For Listing Committee Candidates

The Listing Nominating Committee has extended the application period for nominations to Listing Committee to 22 April 2014 from 7 April 2014. The Listing Nominating Committee is seeking applications from individuals interested in serving on the Listing Committee and the Growth Enterprise Market (GEM) Listing Committee1. Appointments will be for a term of approximately twelve months commencing in May/June 2014.

Platts China Steel Sentiment Index Dipped In April But Stays Strong - Monthly Index Totaled 72.14, Down 1.91 Points From March Reading Of 74.05 - Survey Indicates Possible Demand Pickup On Export Orders

The health of China’s steel sector is expected to remain strong in April, despite a minimal decline in sentiment, according to the latest Platts China Steel Sentiment Index (Platts CSSI), which showed a reading of 72.14 out of a possible 100, down 1.91 points from the March level of 74.05. The Platts CSSI reflects the responses of steel makers, traders and exporters at the end of each month to questions about new orders for the month ahead and the proprietary survey contains additional sentiment readings on demand, inventories and prices.

MAS And Police Investigate Possible Breaches Of The Securities And Futures Act

The Commercial Affairs Department (CAD) of the Singapore Police Force has commenced an investigation into possible breaches of the Securities and Futures Act (Cap. 289) arising from suspected trading irregularities in the shares of Asiasons Capital Limited, Blumont Group Ltd and LionGold Corp Ltd. CAD is working jointly with the Monetary Authority of Singapore in the investigation.
