- WSE has signed an agreement to provide the service of an online auction platform for the sale of CO2 emission allowances.

Under an agreement with the Institute of Environmental Protection – National Research Institute, which performs the functions of the National Centre for Emissions Management (KOBiZE), the WSE will make available an online platform for a sale auction of CO2 emission allowances (EUA – European Union Allowances) remaining on reserve after the second trading period 2008 – 2012.

The auction will be executed by KOBiZE while the financial support for the auction (including the acceptance of security deposits and payments for allowances) will be provided by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management. The auction will take place on 2 April 2013 and is mainly addressed to participants of the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) including energy and production companies. The auction is also open to brokerage houses and other entities which trade in financial instruments.
