Thomas Krantz, Secretary General of the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE), today joined Tom Kloet, TMX Group CEO and TMX employees in opening the market.
WFE is the international trade organization for regulated securities and derivatives markets, settlement institutions and related clearing houses. It is comprised of fifty-six exchanges from all over the world. WFE members together account for nearly all of the world’s stock market capitalization and most of its exchange-traded futures, options, listed investment funds and bonds.
TMX Group will host the 49th World Federation of Exchanges General Assembly and Annual Meeting in Vancouver in October 2009. “TMX is excited to be host of this important event,” said Mr. Kloet. “It will provide a great opportunity for us to welcome our international exchange colleagues to Canada to showcase our markets.” Mr. Krantz added: “The annual WFE conference brings together world-leading organizations to discuss international exchange and trading issues. I look forward to working with TMX to create what will undoubtedly be a very successful forum.”
