World Federation Of Exchanges Held Its Sixth Developing Markets Forum In Cairo On 25 And 26 February 2008

The World Federation of Exchanges (WFE), the trade association of the global exchange industry, held its sixth Developing Markets Forum hosted by the Cairo and Alexandria Stock Exchanges (CASE) in Cairo, Egypt.

This is the first time that Cairo hosts one of WFE’s most important events to discuss significant development issues related to global capital markets.

Attending this year’s Forum were representatives from 23 WFE member exchanges together with representatives from international, regional and domestic organisations that operate in the securities industry.,/p>

The Forum provided all member exchanges with opportunities for high-level dialogue on market developments and areas of future co-operation. Key note speaker at the Forum this year was Dr. Mahmoud Mohi El Din, the Minister of Investment of Egypt.

Commenting on the Forum, Mr. Massimo Capuano, Chairman of WFE and Deputy Chief Executive of the London Stock Exchange Group said: “We are particularly pleased to host this WFE Developing Markets Forum in Cairo. The Egyptian market is one of the fastest growing and more open in the region in attracting an increasing number of foreign institutional investors”

Maged Shawdy, chairman of CASE, said: “The decision to hold the meeting in Cairo reflects positively on Egypt’s recent economic achievements and the emphasis paid by worldwide exchanges to Egypt’s capital market. <.p>
