Winterflood Opens Mondo Visione Exchange Forum Today - £6bn Global Exchange Industry Is Restructuring Through Mergers, Acquisitions And New Players

Date 03/06/2008

Brian Winterflood, non executive chairman of Winterflood Securities Limited, officially opens the Mondo Visione Exchange Forum in London today.

The Mondo Visione Exchange Forum has attracted a diverse range of delegates from the exchange industry, including the Tehran Stock Exchange, Istanbul Stock Exchange and MICEX Stock Exchange.

Current industry issues such as increased competition, dark pools of liquidity and the battle between the old and the new way will shape the event’s trademark interactive panel discussions.

Dr Benn Steil, Director of International Economics at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York will again chair the Mondo Visione Exchange Forum. His financial market expertise more than qualify him to lead debates on issues facing the exchange industry.

Brian Winterflood, non executive chairman of Winterflood Securities Limited, commented: “The FSA is demanding more transparency, the city is providing more liquidity. This conference will, I think, contribute hugely to both. It would be difficult to assemble a finer array of people in London who will keep us in the forefront of global markets.”

Clara Furse, chief executive of London Stock Exchange, commented: “While the central purpose of an exchange is timeless, the exchange industry is evolving through a mixture of competition, cooperation and consolidation. The impact of new trading technologies, regulatory developments and globalisation all add to the pace of change. The Exchange Forum provides a valuable opportunity for industry leaders to debate these important issues.”

Herbie Skeete, managing director of Mondo Visione said: “Exchanges continue to operate in an increasingly competitive environment. Established players face increased competition from nimble new entrants armed with the latest in technology, taking advantage of regulatory changes such as MiFID and Regulation NMS.”

The Mondo Visione Exchange Forum 2008 will be held at The Grange City Hotel, London, EC3N 2BQ, On Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 June 2008.
