Warsaw Stock Exchange IPO Partner

Date 16/11/2006

WSE IPO Partner is a new project for attracting foreign companies to the Warsaw Stock Exchange trading floor. The first company which concluded an agreement with the WSE on November 15, 2006, within this project is an Ukrainian brokerage house E-Volution with its headquarters in Kiev.

The essence of the program is to support canvassing and promotional activities on foreign markets of the WSE partners – foreign brokerage houses. The Warsaw Stock Exchange intends to sign agreements with the entities conducting brokerage business or activities related to investment services, of which the main role will be to gain – directly and indirectly – the companies located outside Poland.

A company which will sign an agreement with the WSE will be entitled to use the title WSE IPO Partner.

Signing up the first agreement with the partner from Ukraine is a result of effective marketing activities in that country run by the Warsaw Exchange. Promotion of the WSE on the Ukrainian and other markets of Central and Eastern Europe is a priority task of the WSE and it is related to the plan of creation the regional financial centre in Warsaw.

Aleksander Bondar, representing E-Volution during the press conference at the WSE said, that there is a colossal market for IPOs in Ukraine. Increasing competition from foreign companies enforces Ukrainian entities to look for capital for investments. The WSE is a good place for realization of such intentions.

Ludwik Sobolewski mentioned that the WSE intends to build a chain of WSE IPO Partner firms in CEE region. He declared that the partners will be supported with information and consultations from the WSE, as well as with the participation of the WSE representatives in the events dedicated to potential issuers.

Every year the Polish exchange market becomes stronger and more internationalized. Within a few last months, as a result of active policy of attracting new foreign companies to the WSE, three new companies from the CEE region made their debuts on the Exchange: Astarta – first Ukrainian company listed at the WSE, Asseco Slovakia and the Czech CEZ – the largest company in the region and one of the major European energy concerns.

The WSE Action Plan for the coming years anticipates that the Polish exchange will be, to a larger extent, concentrated on the trading in securities from the CEE region and will be distinguished as a financial centre of trading in equities. WSE IPO Partner program will be an important factor making the achievement of these goals easier.
