Visit Of Somsavat Lengsavad, Deputy Prime Minister Of Laos, To The Luxembourg Stock Exchange

During a working visit to Luxembourg on 25 May 2009, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Mr Somsavat Lengsavat, visited the Luxembourg Stock Exchange.

Accompanied by the Minister for Finance, Mr Somdy Douangdy, and the Governor of the Central Bank, Mr Phouphet Khamphounvong, the Deputy Prime Minister was welcomed by Michel Maquil, Chairman of the Executive Committee and Dominique Valschaerts, member of the Executive Committee.

The Laotian delegation attended a presentation of the history and activities of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange. The focus of this presentation was primarily on the role that the Luxembourg Stock Exchange has for the listing of international securities, especially those from Asian issuers. This was followed by a presentation on the activities and projects of Finesti, a subsidiary of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange that specialises in information relating to investment funds.

The presentations were concluded by a reception at the Luxembourg Stock Exchange, during which the Lao delegation met the Executive Committee and officials of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange.
