  • VIGO System SA, a company listed on the GPW, was recognized as a Rising Star in the 2016 European Small and Mid-Cap Awards
  • The awards are presented by the Federation of European Securities Exchanges and the European Issuers in partnership with the European Commission

VIGO System SA, a company listed on the GPW Main Market since December 2014, has won the second award in the Rising Star category. The very nomination of VIGO System to the finals of the European Small and Mid-Cap Awards 2016 was a great honour. The award winners in four categories are 12 leading companies listed on European stock exchanges.

VIGO System SA is a manufacturer of most advanced uncooled infrared detectors. VIGO System products have many applications in the defence sector, industry, environmental protection, medicine, as well as research in spectroscopy, laser technology and controlled thermonuclear fusion. The advanced technology is used on earth and beyond. Detectors developed and produced by VIGO System operate in the Curiosity Rover constructed for the NASA Mars mission. Another detector produced in Ożarów Mazowiecki was launched to the Red Planet on 14 March 2016 in the European ExoMars mission. VIGO System has been listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange since 2014. The IPO helped to raise funding for the co-financing of a strategic investment project: a laboratory developing a new detector manufacturing technology.

“I congratulate VIGO System on the prestigious award in the European Small and Mid-Cap Awards 2016. The nomination of VIGO System to the Small and Mid-Cap Awards 2016 demonstrates the great potential of the Polish high-tech industry. We are proud that VIGO System, a company listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, is one of the most innovative companies in Europe on the forefront of innovation and advanced technology. The success of VIGO System demonstrates that the Warsaw Stock Exchange is where research and business meet in a perfect synergy,” said Professor Małgorzata Zaleska, President of the Management Board of the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

The European Small and Mid-Cap Awards were open to those companies which had an IPO in 2014-2015, represented strong fundamentals, and reported a long-term increase of the share price. The capitalisation of companies enrolled in the awards was capped at EUR 1 billion at the IPO date.

We are proud of the award won by VIGO System, which confirms that we have opted for the right growth strategy. The IPO opened a new chapter in our growth, created new opportunities and triggered far-reaching organisational change in the company. We wish to thank the shareholders, financial investors, and business partners including the Warsaw Stock Exchange, for their trust and support. We are determined to continue dynamic development and to serve as a model of effective transmission of Polish research results into business success, which is how we can best reciprocate the trust we have enjoyed,” said Dr Adam Piotrowski, CEO of VIGO System.

The award winners have been selected by an independent jury appointed by the European Commission, comprised of representatives of research, capital markets, business, asset managers and financial media. The European Small and Mid-Cap Awards established by the Federation of European Securities Exchanges and European Issuers promote the fastest growing companies present on the European capital markets.
