Vickie Alvo Joins SIFMA As Professional Societies Business Manager

The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) today announced it has hired Vickie Alvo as vice president, SIFMA professional societies. Ms. Alvo joins SIFMA as a recent graduate of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, where she was awarded the prestigious Joseph Wharton Fellowship. Earlier she worked at J.P. Morgan Chase, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and at the White House.

“I’m extremely pleased that Vickie is joining SIFMA,” said Ileane Rosenthal, executive vice president for member engagement at SIFMA. “Vickie has a wealth of experience which will strengthen the goals of the Professional Societies. Her broad range of expertise, including analysis, strategic and program development will be vital to the continued growth and success of the SIFMA Professional Societies.”

In December 2009, SIFMA established the Professional Societies to promote the benefits of educational opportunities, sharing of best practices and peer-to-peer networking among financial service industry professionals. The Professional Societies are: the Compliance and Legal Society, the Internal Auditors Society, the Financial Management Society, and the Operations and Technology Society.

The Operation and Technology Society is represented by six diverse Sections organized along business lines. The Sections are Corporate Actions, Credit & Margin, Customer Account Transfer, Data Management, Securities Lending, and Securities Operations. These Sections continue to have their distinct missions, yet are also strengthened by a collective affiliation in the Operations and Technology Society.

In her role at SIFMA, Ms. Alvo will be responsible for oversight and the continued growth of the Professional Societies.

Ms. Alvo received her Master’s Degree in business administration from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, where she majored in strategic management. She has a B.A. in Political Science from McGill University.
