The FCA and PRA will fine Jes Staley, Chief Executive of Barclays, £642,430, and have announced special requirements regarding whistleblowing systems and controls at Barclays.
Commenting on this announcement, Rt Hon. Nicky Morgan MP, Chair of the Treasury Committee, said:
"As the FCA’s Decision Notice states, a CEO should set an example to the firm’s employees. Clearly Mr Staley has failed in this regard.
In our next evidence session with the FCA, we’ll ask why it believes that the fines are appropriate, and what it believes the implications are for the Senior Managers Regime."
