Two New Futures Contract Classes Will Be Introduced To Warsaw Stock Exchange Trading On 30 September 2008

Two new futures contract classes will be introduced to WSE trading on 30 September 2008: the British pound (GBP) and the Swiss franc (CHF) futures contracts. Four series of each of the new contract classes will be in trading.

The Warsaw Stock Exchange will list in total 4 classes of currency futures contracts as of 30 September 2008, including USD, EUR, GBP and CHF contracts.

X-Trade Brokers Dom Maklerski SA will be the market animator for all currency contracts.

Listed currency futures contracts have gained increasing popularity among investors in 2008. Investor interest in these contracts has risen sharply thanks to their high liquidity supported by the market animator as well as reduced fees offered by most brokerage houses.

The volume of trading grew more than 10-fold year on year, reaching over 62 thousand contracts year to date (compared to 6.1 thousand contracts in 2007). The volume of trading was record-high at 1,906 contracts at the session of 12 September 2008. The number of the market’s active investors and the number of open interest have grown at a similar rate.
