Turnover At Deutsche Börse’s Cash Markets At 131.5 Billion Euros In May

Order book turnover on Deutsche Börse cash market rose significantly in May compared to the previous year. Turnover on the trading venues Xetra, Börse Frankfurt and Tradegate Exchange totaled €131.5 billion (May 2016: €103.8 billion). 

Of the €131.5 billion, €119.6 billion were attributable to Xetra (May 2016: €96.1 billion). The average daily turnover on Xetra stood at €5.4 billion in May (May 2016: €4.6 billion). A turnover of €4.1 billion was attributable to Börse Frankfurt (May 2016: €2.9 billion). Order book turnover on Tradegate Exchange totalled approximately €7.8 billion in May (May 2016: €4.9 billion).

Broken down by asset classes, cash market turnover in equities reached about €114.9 billion. Turnover in ETFs/ETCs/ETNs amounted to €14.6 billion. Turnover in bonds was €0.5 billion, in structured products €1.2 billion and in funds €0.2 billion.

The electronic trading platform Eurex Bonds traded €4.9 billion (single counting, mainly government bonds) in May (May 2016: €4.7 billion).

Viewed by transactions, a total of 25.2 million trades were executed on Xetra in May (May 2016: 19.2 million).

The DAX security with the highest turnover on Xetra in May was Daimler AG at €5.2 billion. GEA Group AG led the MDAX equities with €760 million, while Klöckner & Co SE topped the SDAX equity index with €241 million, and United Internet AG headed TecDAX with €620 million. The ETF with the highest turnover on Xetra was iShares Core DAX UCITS ETF with €1.9 billion. With 166.8 tonnes, the gold ETC Xetra-Gold achieved a new record in gold holdings.
