TSX Group Donates $47,500 To 9-11 Charities

Date 13/09/2002

The TSX Group is donating $47,500 in trading fees in remembrance of the victims of the September 11th terrorist attacks. These were fees gathered by the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange during trading from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2002.

Despite the delayed opening of markets in the United States that day, the TSX Group opened the markets in Canada at the regular time but left the decision on whether market participants trade up to the individual firms.

These trading fees will be donated to the September 11th Disaster Relief Fund. The TSX Group also donated $50,000 US to that fund last September.

The September 11th Disaster Relief Fund was created by the United Way and the New York Community Trust to receive donations from concerned citizens and organizations. It has provided support to established emergency assistance agencies, such as the American Red Cross. It also brings together the resources of other non-profit health and human service agencies.
