Treatment Of Publishing & Broadcasting Ltd Demerger In The S&P/ASX All Australian 50 Index

Standard & Poor’s will make the following changes in the S&P/ASX All Australian 50 Index effective after the close of trading on Friday, Nov. 30, 2007:

Subject to shareholder and court approval, Publishing & Broadcasting Limited (Australia, SEDOL: 6637082, GICS Code: 25401020) will split its gaming and media businesses into two separately listed companies, Crown Limited and Consolidated Media Holdings Limited (CMH). This process will take place in two steps: Crown Limited will acquire all PBL shares for one share in Crown Limited and $3 cash. PBL will be removed from the S&P/ASX All Australian 50 and will be replaced by Crown Limited. Simultaneously, Crown Limited will spin-off CMH, with Crown Limited shareholders receiving one share in CMH for every one Crown Limited share, and CMH will be added to the S&P/ASX All Australian 50.

The effect of these events in the S&P/ASX All Australian 50, all effective after the close of trading on Friday, Nov. 30 2007, can be summarised as follows:
  • Publishing & Broadcasting Limited removed from the S&P/ASX All Australian 50.
  • Crown Limited (Australia, SEDOL: to be confirmed, GICS Code 25301010 (Casinos & Gaming) added to the S&P/ASX All Australian 50.
  • Consolidated Media Holdings Limited (Australia, SEDOL: to be confirmed, GICS Code: 25401020 (Broadcasting & Cable TV) added to the S&P/ASX All Australian 50.

As a result of these events, there will be 53 securities in the S&P/ASX All Australian 50, compared with 52 securities at present.
