Date 07/02/2008

On February 4, 2008, the total trading volume of futures and options contracts listed on OSE, for the fiscal year from April 2007, reached 100,015,303 units (preliminary figures), exceeding 100 million units also on a fiscal-year basis.

Last year, in Year 2007, OSE introduced various measures to improve its derivatives markets so that many investors can trade in as a means to hedge risk, such as the introduction of the give-up function and the evening session, as the first for equity derivatives in Japan. OSE will make further efforts to enhance the convenience of the derivatives markets of OSE by introducing measures to boost the Equity Options market, etc.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the launch of Nikkei 225 Futures trading. OSE will further contribute to the development of the Japanese derivatives market under the catchphrase, “To the Future with Futures.”
