On December 13th, 2007 on FORTS (Futures and Options on RTS) there was registered a record trading volume of futures. By the trading results of the day, the trading volume made up 126,7 billion rubles or 5,2 billion dollars.
The previous record in trading volume of futures on FORTS was registered on November 16, 2007 and made up 109,2 billion rubles or about 4,5 billion dollars.
At the same time on December 13th, 2007 there was registered a record trading volume of futures on RTS Index. By the trading results of the day, the trading volume made up 53,2 billion rubles or 462 825 contracts.
The previous record in trading volume of futures on RTS Index was registered on December 11th, 2007 and made up 49,9 billion rubles or 431 044 contracts.
Derivatives market of RTS – FORTS is a leading trading ground for futures and options in Russia. Trading on FORTS started in September 2001. At present FORTS has the widest range of instruments in Russia. These are 63 contracts (44 futures and 19 options) on shares of Russian companies, bonds, short interest rates, currency, RTS Index, oil, gas oil and gold.
The trading volume on FORTS in 2007 exceeded 166 bln dollars. On FORTS From January to September 2007 there were executed more than 7,2 mln transactions with 93,5 contracts. Average daily open interest on standard contracts in 2007 grew by 102,6% and in September reached 8 bln dollars.
