Effective today, Tuesday, July 22, 2008, Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. (TSE) will implement the following system capacity augmentation to the Stock Trading System in tandem with the partial review of the tick size structure as publicized on Tuesday, May 27, 2008.
The TSE will continue to work to ensure users' confidence in the market by making improvements to market operations, including the establishment of the next-generation trading system.

Outline of Improvement Measures for the Stock and Derivatives Trading Systems
System capacity augmentation to the Stock Trading System
The TSE will increase the number of orders to be processed per day to 28 million from the current 23 million.
Partial revision of tick size structure
The TSE will revise tick sizes for stocks, etc. as follows.
- If the price per share is more than JPY 100,000 but less than or equal to 300,000:
The new tick size will be JPY 100 (currently JPY 1,000). - If the price per share is more than JPY 1 million but less than or equal to 3 million:
The new tick size will be JPY 1,000 (currently JPY 10,000).
The TSE will revise tick sizes for individual options trading as follows.
- If the daily price limit minimum for the underlying individual security is equal to or more than JPY 100,000 but less than 300,000:
The new tick size will be JPY 50 (currently JPY 500). - If the daily price limit minimum for the underlying individual security is equal to or more than JPY 1 million but less than JPY 3 million:
The new tick size will be JPY 500 (currently JPY 5,000).
