Tokyo Stock Exchange Sets The Date For The Last /First Business Day Of The Year In 2009/2010

Tokyo Stock Exchange has previously announced that it would amend some of its trading rules and customs upon the activation of Next Generation Trading System scheduled in the latter half of 2009, and one of the amendment schemes was to abolish Half-Holidays on the Last/First Business Day of the year to reduce systems load.

After careful consideration in line with discussions at the Market Operations Committee, an advisory committee of TSE etc., it has set the details of the Last/First Trading Day as shown below.

This will bring some changes to TSE rules, and it will be carried on with disclosing of implementation outline and public comments procedure along with other rules and customs changes upon the activation of the Next Generation Trading System.

Last Business Day of the Year (Starting in the year end of 2009)
December 30th
Full Day Trading
First Business Day of the Year (Starting in the new year of 2010)
January 4th
Full Day Trading
*Evening Session of Derivatives Market will also be conducted.
