Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. Held A Conference Focusing On ETFs Together With Euronext

Date 13/02/2007

On Thursday, February 8, 2007, Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. and Euronext held a conference to explain about ETFs at "La Bourse" in the center of Paris. The conference focused on investing in Japan and the Asian region in light of the heightened interest in investing in Japanese equity. Although the conference started early in the morning, approximately 50 professionals such as investment bankers and fund managers attended. This was the first opportunity to hold such a conference with Euronext.

The conference began with an explanation of recent trends in the Euronext ETF market by the Head of ETF business at Euronext, followed by a commentary on recent Japanese macroeconomic trends by a Societe Generale economist. After that, a representative of the TSE's information services division outlined the characteristics of TOPIX, the Tokyo Stock Price Index, and finally, a representative of Lyxor Asset Management, a wholly owned subsidiary of Societe Generale, explained about investing in Japan and the Asian region through ETFs.

The first European TOPIX was listed on Euronext Paris on November 17, 2005, and the assets under management of the ETF have grown to EUR 495 million as of the end of January 2007. The Tokyo Stock Exchange will endeavor to further increase interest in Japanese companies and enhance cross-border capital flow between Europe and Japan through activities promoting TOPIX and other products.
