TMX Group Consolidated Trading Statistics October 2010

TMX Group Inc. today announced October 2010 trading statistics for its diversified group of exchanges - Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange, Montreal Exchange and Natural Gas Exchange (NGX).

Highlights

In October 2010, TSX Venture Exchange saw an increase in volume of 5% compared to the previous month, and an increase in value of 13%. Year-to-date, TSX Venture Exchange is greatly exceeding 2009 levels. Toronto Stock Exchange experienced a decrease in volume and value in October 2010 compared to the previous month. Volume was down by 8% in October 2010 compared to September 2010.

Montreal Exchange continued to surpass 2009 levels during the first 10 months of 2010. Volume on Montreal Exchange was up 26%, and open interest was up by 15%. During October 2010, open interest was up slightly compared to the previous month, though volume decreased by 17% compared to September 2010.

In 2010, NGX has experienced positive year-to-date levels, with total energy volume in the first 10 months of 2010 surpassing 2009 levels during the same period by 11%.
