TMX Group Inc. today announced July 2010 consolidated trading statistics for its diversified group of exchanges – Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange, Montreal Exchange and Natural Gas Exchange (NGX).
Highlights
NGX has once again set a new record for natural gas trading volume in July 2010; the previous record was set last month. On a year-to-date basis, natural gas volume was up more than 11% compared to the same period in 2009.
On Montreal Exchange, trading volume continued to be up significantly compared to 2009. July 2010 volumes exceeded July 2009 by 15%; on a year-to-date basis, volume increased 30% in 2010 compared to the first seven months of 2009. Open interest was up 23% in July 2010 compared to the same month last year.
Trading volumes on both Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange were down in July 2010 compared to June 2010. Trading volume, value and transactions on TSX Venture Exchange continued to dramatically exceed 2009 measures on a year-to-date basis.
