In June trading in equities on the Spanish market through SIBE amounted to € 93.25 which represents a year on year increase of 23%. The number of trades reached 1.8 million, 22% up on the year.
The accumulated trading volume posted since January has come in at € 531.84 bn, 25 % up on 2005. The number of trades was 33% up on the year.
Trading on the Latibex market came in at € 68million, which represents a 72% increase on last year. The number of trades increased 88%.
Accumulated trading volume on the Latibex market up to June was € 401 million, 66% up on 2005. The number of trades on this market grew over 84% on the year. The return on the IBEX 35® index in June was 1.83% and the accumulated growth during the year came in at 7.59%. The return on the IBEX 35® with dividends for the same period was 9.36%. The monthly returns on the IBEX MEDIUM CAP® and IBEX SMALL CAP® were 11.68% and 14.03% respectively. The return on the FTSE Latibex TOP index in March was 1.48%.
Warrants and Certificates
Trading volumes in June 2006 on the warrants and certificates market came in at € 264 million, which represents a 34% increase over the same month in 2005. The number of trades reached 41.568, which represents a 39% increase on the same month last year and the highest monthly figure ever posted on this market.
The accumulated figure up to June was € 1.53 bn million, 42% up on 2005. The number of trades increased 50%.
Futures and Options
In June 2006 Futures and Options trading through MEFF came in at 6.2 million contracts. It is worth mentioning the strong trading volume reached by IBEX 35 Futures, MEFF’s flagship product, with 569,569 contracts and a 40% increase on the year. Mini IBEX Futures trading came in at 169,298 contracts, 106% up on June 2005 and Stock Options trading reached 1.1 million contracts, 30% up on the year.
The accumulated trading volume on MEFF for the first 6 months of the year was 25.2 million contracts, 28% up on same period last year. Trading in Stock Options was 6.9 million contracts, 57% up on the year and Mini IBEX Futures’ trading was 0.8 million, 40% up on the year. IBEX 35 Futures posted strong growth at 3.1 million contracts, 27% up on the year.
Corporate Debt
Corporate Debt trading on AIAF in June was € 72.50 bn, 0.8% up on the year, leaving an accumulated trading volume of € 421.84 bn at half-year end and posting a 1.9% increase on the year.
New issues in June came in at € 48.63 bn, 26.1% up on June 2005. The total volume of new issues during the first half represented € 245.42 bn, posting a 19.2% increase on the year.
The outstanding balance at the end of June exceeded € 500 bn for the first time ever to hit € 513.84 bn, recording an increase of 36.5% on the same period in 2005. Net financing provided during the first half grew 4.2% on the year, reaching € 71.4 million.
SENAF
Trading volume on SENAF in June was € 12.45 bn. SENAF’s market share in electronic trading was 62.56%. Trading in bonds and obligations on their expiry date grew by 85% on the year.
