- MEFF traded 4,368,627 contracts in October, 33% up compared to the same month a year earlier. It is worth mentioning the trading in Stock Futures, with 1,634,753 and Mini IBEX Futures, with 263,264 contracts, with year on year increases of 283% and 79% respectively.
- Trading in Corporate Debt in October reached €101.79bn, 3.9% up from a year earlier.
Equities
In October trading in equities on the Spanish market through SIBE increased by 52.2% compared to 2006 to €175.02bn. The number of trades came in at 3.2 million, 40% up on the same month in 2006.
The accumulated value of trading posted from the beginning of the year was €1.4 trillion, 54.1% up on the same period last year and 22.2% higher than the figure for the entire 2006. The number of trades during the first ten months grew by 57% compared to the same period last year to 28.7 million. Both figures have exceeded those posted last year for the same period and set new yearly record highs.
The value of trading on Latibex in October was 17.5% higher than the figure for the same month last year.
As for the exchange traded funds segment (ETF), the effective trading volume posted in October was €1.22bn, up 228% on October 2006.
Warrants and Certificates
Trading volumes on the warrants and certificates market in October was €483 million, 56.1% up on October last year. The number of trades amounted to 78,051, a 61.4% increase on the same period last year.
The accumulated figure to October was €4.43bn, 84.3% up on the same period last year. The accumulated number of trades grew by 79.5% on the same period last year.
Futures and options
Trading volume in MEFF Options and Futures in October came in at 4,368,627 contracts, 33% up on the same period last year. It is worth mentioning the heavy trading in Stock Futures, with 1,634,753 contracts, 283% up on the same month 2006 and Mini IBEX Futures, with 263,264 contracts and a 79% increase compared October 2006. Trading in the IBEX 35 Future contract, the main contract traded on MEFF, rose by 17% compared to the same month in 2006 to 698,118 contracts.
The value of trading on MEFF to October 2007 was 38.8 million contracts. Highlights include IBEX 35 Futures, with 7.2 million contracts and a 37% yearly increase, and Mini IBEX Futures, with 2.4 million contracts, 73% up on the same period in 2006.
Corporate Debt
The value of corporate debt trading on AIAF in October came in at €101.79bn, 3.9% up on the same month last year. Trading on this market in the first 10 months of the year reached €924.6bn, 26.6 up on the same period in 2006.
New issues admitted to trading on the Corporate Debt market in October amounted to €55.33bn, 29.1% up on October 2006. The accumulated volume of new issues to October grew by 32.7% compared to the same period 2006 to €550.78bn.
The outstanding balance at the end of October was € 739.96 bn, 33.3% up on last year.
SENAF
In October trading volume on the public debt trading platform, SENAF, reached €9.29bn.
