The Philadelphia Stock Exchange Announces November Volume

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) announced today that equity option volume in November jumped 52.36% when 41,047,601 contracts traded compared to the same year-ago period when 26,941,072 contracts traded. Volume was up 51.70 % year-to-date. Equity option volume in November was down 2.77% compared to the previous month when 42,216,206 contracts traded.

Average daily volume in November for equity options reached 1,954,622, up 6.8% from last month.

PHLX market share in November was 14.51% Market share without ex-dividend volume was 14.39%.

Equity volume for November skyrocketed 139.38% when 153,807,319 shares traded compared to the same year-ago period when 64,253,015 shares traded. Equity volume for November decreased 7.60% compared the previous month when 166,454,605 shares traded. Year-to-date equity volume increased 105.09%.

Volume on the six newly traded World Currency Options (WCOs) rose 31.10% in November when 557,038 contracts traded compared to 424,911 contracts traded during the previous month.

WCOs ended November with an open interest of 717,178 contracts.

Trading volume in the customized and standardized currency options for November totaled 289 contracts, a decrease of 73.41% compared to the previous month when 1,087 contracts traded. Volume in November decreased 97.39% compared to the same year-ago period when 11,066 contracts traded.

Sectors index options volume for November decreased 14.47% when 602,652 contracts traded compared to the previous month when 704,597 contracts traded. Volume in sectors index options in November increased 24.35% compared to same year-ago period when 484,637 contracts traded.
