The NASDAQ Stock Market will be observing the events that took place on September 11, 2001, with a commemorative Opening and Closing Bell Ceremony and a trading moment of silence.
In lieu of an Opening Bell ceremony, The NASDAQ MarketSite Tower in Times Square will broadcast, in its entirety, the ceremony taking place on ground zero starting at 8:30 a.m. The NASDAQ Tower will acknowledge the various moments of silence within the ceremony at ground zero.
For the Closing Bell ceremony, Iris Weinshall, Commissioner of the Department of Transportation (DOT), Anthony Coscia, Chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and Kenneth Ringler, Executive Director Port Authority of New York and New Jersey will preside over the closing bell in remembrance of September 11th.
Furthermore, NASDAQ has asked the trading community to refrain from trading for a moment of silence between 10:29a.m. - 10:30 a.m. (representing the fall of the North Tower) on Monday September 11th 2006 to remember those who lost their lives on this tragic day.
