The Kosdaq Stock Market Monthly Report For June 2001

The average daily trading value for the 20 trading days in June was KRW 1,650,465 million (USD 1.3 billion), a decrease of 35 percent compared with the previous month. Total trading value for the month was KRW 33,009,298 million. A total of 7,168 million shares were traded in June, compared with 10,264 million shares in the previous month. The average daily trading volume in June was 358 million shares.

The Kosdaq Composite Index at the end of June was 76.87, a decrease of 5.51 percent from the previous month. Its highest closing for June was 82.49 on the 15th and its lowest was 74.53 on the 26th. The Kosdaq 50 and the Venture Index for the month of June ended at 92.94 and 161.99 respectively.

The market capitalization at the end of June was KRW 45,359,918 million compared with KRW 65,079,997 million on the same date last year.

The total number of listed companies was 616 at the end of June compared with 538 In June 2000. Of the 616 companies, 277 were venture companies. During the month of June, 10 new companies were listed.
