The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) Monthly Statistical Report November 2017

Total number of listed companies on the main market amounted to 222 at the end of November 2017. Meanwhile, the number of listed companies on Nilex reached 32 at the end of the month.

One company was listed in the main market this month.

Total number of trading days in November 2017 amounted to 21 days, with a total value traded of US$ 1,762.16 million (LE 31,264.59 million). Value traded of the main market amounted to US$ 1,724.45 million (LE 30,595.48 million), of which shares, bonds and funds represented 90.42%, 9.58% and 0%, respectively. Unlisted securities i.e. Over the Counter trading reached US$ 35.11 million (LE 622.88 million), which represents 6.41% of total value traded for the month. Additionally, Nilex has recorded a trading value of US$ 2.61 million (LE 46.22 million) during the month.

This is in comparison to October 2017, when value traded of the main market amounted to US$ 1,688.78 million (LE 29,804.71 million), of which shares represented 97.34%, 2.66% and 0%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to US$ 115.86 million (LE 2,044.73 million), i.e. 6.41% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading), which reached US$ 1,807.57 million (LE 31,901.23 million). Additionally, Nilex has recorded a trading value of US$ 2.93 million (LE 51.79 million) during the month.

Total volume traded of the main market for this month reached 6,962.7 million securities. Meanwhile, the total volume traded of the OTC market has reached 68.45 million securities. Nilex has recorded a trading volume of 52.24 million securities.

During November 2017, 634,388 transactions were concluded with an average of                    30,209 trades per day, as opposed to 839,728 transactions were concluded with an average of 38,169 trades per day, during October 2017.

EGX 30 index, the official market index, witnessed an increase of 1.67% in November 2017, to close at 14,582.22 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 27.32%. 

Meanwhile, EGX 70 price index witnessed an increase of 1.72% in November 2017, to close at 795.43 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 74.21%.

Moreover, EGX 100 price index witnessed an increase of 4.75% in November 2017, to close at 1,852.16 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 71.96%.

Moreover, EGX 20 Capped index witnessed an increase of 4.61% in November 2017, to close at 14,220.22 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 26.92%.

Additionally, the Dow Jones EGX Egypt Titans 20 index witnessed an increase of 2.89% in November 2017, to close at 3,065.78 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 27.29%.

On the other hand, the S&P/EGX ESG index witnessed an increase of 1.98% in November 2017, to close at 2,324.37 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 47.78%.

Furthermore, the EGX50 EWI index witnessed a decrease of 0.39% in November 2017, to close at 2,523 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 36.54%.

From another perspective, Nile index witnessed a decrease of 2.55% in November 2017, to close at 528.24 points and witnessed a YoY decrease of 18.6%.

The ten most active stocks in the main market represented 73.85% of total traded shares' volume and 43.44% of total traded shares' value for this month.

During the month of November, the top five gainers, in the main market, were (in descending order of price change) Orange Egypt For Telecommunications (108.88%), El Shams Housing & Urbanization (54.71%), Alexandria Spinning & Weaving (SPINALEX) (36.53%), Egyptian Starch & Glucose (36.32%) and Torah Cement (27.7%).

The top five losers, in the main market, were (in ascending order of price change) Arabia Investments, Development, Fin. Inv. Holding Comp (-22.94%), Porto Group (-18.6%), El Orouba Securities Brokerage (-15.79%), Marsa Marsa Alam For Tourism Development (-14.17%) and Orascom Telecom Media And Technology Holding (-13.1%).

Total market capitalization of shares in the main market amounted to US$ 45.55 billion (LE 808.24 billion), as of end of November 2017 compared to US$ 44.47 billion (LE 784.8 billion) in October 2017, representing an increase of 2.97%. Meanwhile, Market capitalization for the companies listed on Nilex has reached US$ 67.16 million (LE 1.19 billion) at the end of November 2017.

In November 2017, foreign investors participated with 27.41% of the value traded of the main market, with a net inflow of portfolio foreign investment totaling US$ 100.72 million (LE 1,787.04 million).
