Total number of trading days in May 2011 amounted to 22 days with a total value traded of US$ 3,058.62 million (LE 18,180.77 million). Value traded of the main market amounted to US$ 2,748.14 million (LE 16,335.20 million), of which shares, bonds and funds represented 74.24%, 25.76% and 0.00%, respectively. Unlisted securities i.e. Over the Counter trading reached US$ 307.02 million (LE 1,824.97 million), which represents 10.04% of total value traded for the month. Additionally, Nilex has recorded a trading value of US$ 3.46 million (LE 20.59 million) during the month.
This is in comparison to April 2011, when value traded of the main market amounted to US$ 1,734.83 million (LE 10,316.54 million), of which shares represented 86.99%, bonds 13.01% and funds 0.00%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to US$183.18 million (LE 1,089.33 million) i.e. 9.54% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading), which reached US$ 1,921.06 million (LE 11,423.96 million). Additionally, Nilex has recorded a trading value of US$ 3.04 million (LE 18.08 million) during the month. Worth mentioning that the total number of trading days in April 2011 amounted to 18 days.
Total volume traded of the main market for this month reached 2,020.86 million securities. Meanwhile, the total volume traded of the OTC market has reached 226.73 million securities. Nilex has recorded a trading volume of 2.17 million securities.
During May 2011, 762,474 transactions were concluded with an average of 34,658 trades per day, as opposed to 562,612 transactions and an average of 31,256 trades per day in April 2011.
Indices
EGX 30 index, the official market index, witnessed an increase of 10.39% in May 2011 to reach 5523.36 points and witnessed a YoY decrease of 15.66%.
Meanwhile, EGX 70 price index witnessed an increase of 8.87% in May 2011 to reach 649.56 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 14.72%.
Moreover, EGX 100 price index witnessed an increase of 8.34% in May 2011 to reach 1003.48 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 3.95%.
Additionally, the Dow Jones EGX Egypt Titans 20 index witnessed an increase of 9.71% in May, to close at 1215.25 points on 31/05/2011 and witnessed a YoY decrease of 13.51%.
On the other hand, the S&P/EGX ESG index witnessed an increase of 5.83% in May, to close at 925.68 points and witnessed a YoY decrease of 6.08%.
