The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) Monthly Statistical Report July 2015

Total number of listed companies on the main market amounted to 221 at the end of July 2015. Meanwhile, the number of listed companies on Nilex reached 33 at the end of the month.

One company was listed this month, with a total capital of US$ 75.61 million (LE 584.46 million).

Total number of trading days in July 2015 amounted to 18 days, with a total value traded of US$ 2,379.80 million (LE 18,396.09 million). Value traded of the main market amounted to US$ 2,209.13 million (LE 17,076.77million), of which shares, bonds and funds represented 53.37%, 46.63% and 0%, respectively. Unlisted securities i.e. Over the Counter trading reached US$ 166.77 million (LE 1,289.13 million), which represents 7.01% of total value traded for the month. Additionally, Nilex has recorded a trading value of US$ 3.91 million (LE 30.20 million) during the month.

This is in comparison to June 2015, when value traded of the main market amounted to US$ 1,459.06 million (LE 10,986.89 million), of which shares represented 75.95%, bonds 24.05% and funds 0%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to US$ 96.26 million (LE 724.88 million), i.e. 6.17% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading), which reached US$ 1,561.08 million (LE 11,755.06 million). Additionally, Nilex has recorded a trading value of US$ 5.75 million (LE 43.29 million) during the month.

Total volume traded of the main market for this month reached 3,105.27 million securities. Meanwhile, the total volume traded of the OTC market has reached 61.03 million securities. Nilex has recorded a trading volume of 21.50 million securities.

During July 2015, 354,788 transactions were concluded with an average of 19,710 trades per day, as opposed to 328,729 transactions were concluded with an average of 15,654 trades per day, during June 2015.

EGX 30 index, the official market index, witnessed a decline of 2.15% in July 2015, to close at 8191.53 points and witnessed a YoY a decline of 7.19%. 

Meanwhile, EGX 70 price index witnessed increase of 3.24% in July 2015, to close at 459.12 points and witnessed a YoY decline of 26.92%.

Moreover, EGX 100 price index witnessed increase of 0.25% in July 2015, to close at 944.14 points and witnessed a YoY decline of 14.85%.

Moreover, EGX 20 Capped index witnessed a decline of 3.64% in July 2015, to close at 8232.31 points and witnessed a YoY decline of 21. 71%.

Additionally, the Dow Jones EGX Egypt Titans 20 index witnessed a decline of 2.33% in July 2015, to close at 1726.69 points and witnessed a YoY a decline of 7.00%.

On the other hand, the S&P/EGX ESG index witnessed a decline of 0.99% in July 2015, to close at 1222.74 points and witnessed a YoY decline of 27.89%.

From another perspective, Nile index witnessed a decline of 3.38% in July 2015, to close at 635 points and witnessed a YoY decline of 20.71%.

The ten most active stocks in the main market represented 77.72% of total traded shares' volume and 58.28% of total traded shares' value for this month.

During the month of July the top five gainers, on the main market, were (in descending order of price change) Emaar Misr for Development (250.00%), North Africa Co. for Real Estate Investment (63.25%), General Company For Land Reclamation, Development & Reconstruction (37.88%), United Arab Shipping (33.61%) Medical Packaging Company (25.71%).

The top five losers, on the main market, were (in ascending order of price change) Misr Oils & Soap (-23.65%), Cairo Development and Investment (-22.15%), El Kahera El Watania Investment (-20.64%), Heliopolis Housing (-12.82%) and Maridive & oil services (-11.63%).

Total market capitalization of shares in the main market amounted to US$ 64.36 billion (LE 497.49 billion), as of end of July 2015 compared to US$ 64.43 billion (LE 485.17 billion) in June 2015, representing increase of 2.54%. Meanwhile, Market capitalization for the companies listed on Nilex has reached US$ 152.190 million (LE 1.18 billion) at the end of July 2015.

In July 2015, foreign investors participated with 14.98% of the value traded of the main market, with a net inflow of portfolio foreign investment totaling US$ 15.5 million (LE 120 million).
