Listing

Total number of listed companies on the listed securities market in July 2010 decreased to 214 companies as opposed to 215 in the previous month. Meanwhile, the number of listed companies on Nilex has reached 13 at the end of July 2010.

There were no new listed companies on the listed securities market this month. Meanwhile, 3 companies were listed on Nilex, with a total capital of US$ 5.6 million (LE 32 million).

Turnover

Total number of trading days in July 2010 amounted to 20 days with a total value traded of US$ 3,423.32 million (LE 19,517.70 million). Value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 3,227.28 million (LE 18,400.01 million), of which shares, bonds and funds represented 66.72%, 33.28% and 0.00%, respectively. Unlisted securities i.e. Over the Counter trading reached US$ 192.65 million (LE 1,098.39 million), which represents 5.63% of total value traded for the month. Additionally, Nilex has recorded a trading value of US$ 3.38 million (LE 19.30 million) during the month.

This is in comparison to June 2010, when value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 4,316 million (LE 24,583 million), of which shares represented 74.28%, bonds 25.72% and funds 0.00%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to US$ 3,835 million (LE 21,842 million) i.e. 47% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading), which reached US$ 8,166 million (LE 46,507 million). Additionally, Nilex has recorded a trading value of US$ 15 million (LE 83 million) during the month.

Total volume traded of listed securities market for this month reached 2,009.22 million securities. Meanwhile, the total volume traded of the OTC market has reached 60.14 million securities. Nilex has recorded a trading volume of 2.18 million securities.

During July 2010, 707,740 transactions were concluded with an average of 35,387 trades per day, as opposed to 748,409 transactions and an average of 34,023 trades per day in June 2010.

Indices

EGX 30 index, the official market index, witnessed a 4.70% increase in July 2010 to reach 6316.52 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 2.31%.

Meanwhile, EGX 70 price index witnessed a 14.89% increase in July 2010 to reach 606.22 points and witnessed a YoY decrease of 13.10%.

Moreover, EGX 100 price index witnessed a 9.53% increase in July 2010 to reach 995.30 points and witnessed a YoY decrease of 10.04%.

Additionally, the Dow Jones EGX Egypt Titans 20 index witnessed a 4.05% increase in July, to close at 1356.39 points on 29/07/2010 and witnessed a YoY increase of 5.43%.

On the other hand, the S&P/EGX ESG index witnessed a 7.05% increase in July, to close at 997.66 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 6.59%.

Price Movements of Selected Shares

The ten most active stocks in the listed securities market represented 49.35% of the total value & 62.42% of the total volume of shares traded for the month.

During the month of July, the top five gainers, on the listed securities market, were (in descending order of price change) Giza General Contracting (+69%), Alexandria National Company for Financial Investment (+45%), National Real Estate Bank for Development (+39%), Arab Valves Company (+39%) and National Housing for Professional Syndicates (+37%).

The top five losers were (in ascending order of price change) El Arabia for Land Reclamation (-46%), Tourism Urbanization (-24%), EL Ezz Aldekhela Steel - Alexandria (-11%), Cairo Oils & Soap (-6%) and El Watany Bank of Egypt (-5%).

Market Capitalization

Total market capitalization of shares in the listed securities market amounted to US$ 74.4 billion (LE 424.18 billion) as of end of July 2010 compared to US$ 72.02 billion (LE 410.14 billion) in June 2010, representing an increase of 3.4%. Meanwhile, Market capitalization for the companies listed on Nilex has reached US$ 95.37 million (LE 543.75 million) at the end of July 2010.

The bond capitalization recorded US$ 951 million (LE 5.4 billion) for corporate bonds and US$ 29 billion (LE 165 billion) for government bonds at the end of July 2010 (Including Treasury Bonds according to Primary Dealers System).

Foreign Participation

In July 2010, foreign investors participated with 19.67% of the total listed securities market value traded, with a net inflow of portfolio foreign investment totaling US$ 58.43 million (LE 333.14 million).
