Thailand Futures Exchange’s 10-Baht Gold Futures Attract Significant Trading On First Day

Thailand Futures Exchange PCL officially launched its 10-baht gold futures today, August 2, with 1,089 contracts traded. Investors paid great attention to this instrument, showing promising signs for growth, as this new product helps fill different types of investor needs.

“The total trading in 10-baht gold futures of 1,089 contracts was comprised of 697 contracts of GF10Q10, maturing in August; 326 contracts of GF10V10 maturing in October, and 66 contracts of GF10Z10 maturing in December,” revealed TFEX Managing Director Kesara Manchusree.

“Recently, global gold prices have been highly volatile, resulting in the need for gold futures to manage risk or make profits from such movements. We believe that 10-baht and 50-baht gold futures have a strong potential for growth,” said Ms. Kesara.

On August 2, 2010, TFEX’s total trading was came to 12,933 contracts, comprised of 6,988 contracts of SET50 Index futures, 212 contracts of SET50 Index Options, 1,239 contracts of stock futures, and 4,494 contracts of gold futures, comprising of 3,405 contracts of 50-baht gold futures and 1,089 contracts in 10-baht gold futures.
