Thai Bourse Launches “TFEX Open House” To Attract First-Time Derivatives Investors

Date 22/04/2013

The Thailand Futures Exchange PCL (TFEX), under The Stock Exchange of Thailand group, is expanding its quality investor base by joining hands with 17 leading broker members to launch “TFEX Open House,” an intensive derivatives training program to teach first-time derivatives investors how to use these products to manage investment risk. Participants will also have opportunities to discuss one-on-one with experts about portfolio management in a volatile market when global commodities prices, including gold and silver, fluctuate widely. The first TFEX Open House will be held on April 27-28 at 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok, with over 2,000 participants expected.

TFEX Managing Director Kesara Manchusree said “For the 7 years that TFEX has operated, TFEX has consistently focused on promoting investment expertise and developing new products to meet all investors’ demands, including those for risk management and other ways to improve overall gains. TFEX has consistently gained more popularity among investors. In the first quarter of this year, average daily TFEX trading volume jumped to 77,118 contracts per day, up by 33,295 contracts, or a 76 percent increase from the end of last year. To continuously create quality investors, one of TFEX’s highlighted educational programs this year is the TFEX Open House, held quarterly, so that investors can adjust their portfolios to take advantage of changing market situations.”

“Following global price fluctuations of commodities, including gold and silver, investors should closely monitor changing prices and carefully manage their portfolios. The TFEX Open House will become another good opportunity for them to learn how to adapt their trading strategies to benefit from the volatile market. On top of that, broker members will help mentor the investors, sharing their experiences and offering one-on-one advice,” Kesara added.

The first TFEX Open House will highlight the Product and Technical Class and Clinic Class to satisfy participants with different investment backgrounds. Product and Technical Class will teach about derivatives trading, technical analysis of TFEX products, and trading strategies to make profits and manage risks. Investors can also learn virtual trading the via internet using the TFEX Click2Win program. In the Clinic Class, investors can engage in one-on-one consultations about their portfolios and investment techniques with experts from 17 broker members. Participants will also receive free investment guidebooks and special gift sets from brokerage firms and TFEX when opening new trading accounts at the event.

This year’s TFEX Open Houses will be held every quarter, i.e., April 27-28, July 13-14, and October 19-20. For more information on this program, please visit www.tfex.co.th.
