The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) invites investors to join its annual investment extravaganza, “SET in the City,”with this year’s theme as “SET Your Future.” Over 90 capital market organizations will provide a wide range of investment alternatives and products, together with useful activities. The event will be held at the Royal Paragon Hall, Siam Paragon Department Store, Bangkok, during November 18-21.
“SET will hold ‘SET in the City’ for the seventh consecutive year. The theme, ‘SET Your Future,’ signifies that the event will provide understanding on how to invest prudently and through what channels. The event will provide a one-stop shop for investors, particularly on products, services and new investment channels,” said SET President Charamporn Jotikasthira.
“Past survey participants agree that ‘SET in the City’ can answer to all of their needs, whether it be for information, investment knowledge or financial services. Over 100,000 persons participated each year, half of whom were attending for the first time ever. Also, these new participants came from a diverse variety of professions. The number of transactions has almost doubled every year. The investment advisory services and seminars were the most popular activities, reflecting investors’ needs for information. In addition, the exhibitors have requested us to hold the event annually, and have fully supported our efforts to do so,” said Mr. Charamporn.
“The SET Group is ready to present products, information, and services that will help guide investors to success. The SET will give information on products to be launched in 2011, so investors will be ready and able to benefit from them right away, e.g., transferable custody receipts, exchange-traded funds on new underlying assets, or oil futures. The SET will also provide investors with leaflets on Stock Best Picks that introduce five outstanding stocks, and a stage for derivatives investors to tell their strategies. The SET will also introduce streaming on iPhones, so investors can trade both equities and derivatives in real-time,” said SET Chief Marketing Officer Pakorn Peetathawatchai.
This year, there will be seminars on all four days, from two stages. The Innovation Stage will present new products, viewpoints and trends in both domestic and foreign markets, while on the Investment Stage, participants will meet with and ask questions of star analysts from Securities Analysts Association members.
“The SET will bring state-of-the-art technology and online channels to fit in with the high-efficiency, high-innovation lifestyle of today’s investors, such as program trading, TSI Financial Tools, or e-Learning. In addition, Opportunity Day @ SET in the City will be webcast live by leading firms. All activities are tools that will help investors reach their goals prudently,” added Mr. Pakorn.
SET in the City 2010 is the biggest investment event of the year. Listed, securities, insurance, asset management and gold futures brokerage firms will be at the event to provide services on investment planning in equities, mutual funds, bonds, debentures, futures, options, and unit-linked products. The Agricultural Futures Exchange PCL will also join the event, while the Securities and Exchange Commission will open a ‘Knowledge Café,’ the Public Debt Management Office will take bookings for special bonds, the Islamic Bank of Thailand will provide financial information that is in line with Islamic principles. The Revenue Department will answer questions about tax problems, and over 30 listed firms will make presentations. Various activities will welcome tax reduction season, including LTFs and RMFs with 15 major asset management companies, and a one-on-one financial planning clinic with Thailand’s leading financial planners. Not only that, the SET Awards and Social Recognition 2010 will honor six outstanding persons in each field. There will also be Dhamma talk with Phra Maha Wudhijaya Vajiramedhi (W. Vajiramedhi) and a promotion to win Blackberrys and iPhone 4s worth over THB300,000 (approx. USD10,000) for those making transactions at the event.
