A structural issue within the building which houses the LME premises in London was discovered on Saturday 16 July 2016 on a higher floor. The structural issue does not involve the LME premises but, as a precaution, the landlord has temporarily closed access to the whole building. The landlord, building manager, structural engineer and other relevant parties are now working to establish the extent of the issue, its implications and its resolution.
As a result of this issue, the landlord has advised that there will be no access to the building until Wednesday 20 July 2016 at the earliest.
Consequently, the LME and LME Clear are invoking their Business Continuity Plans which involve Ring trading from Chelmsford and staff working from Chelmsford, Wapping or home as set out in these plans. Ring trading will therefore take place from Chelmsford on Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 July 2016.
All trading, clearing and other systems will continue to operate as normal.
We will keep members informed of the situation including plans for returning to 10 Finsbury Square as soon as practicable
