“Asian Views, Global Vision” (立足亞太,放眼全球) will be the central theme for the inaugural ‘Asian Exchange Forum’ to be held in Taipei on 24 July 2015, hosted by the Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation (TWSE).
Senior leaders from ten stock exchanges from across the Asia-Pacific region will attend the unprecedented Forum to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing bourses in the region and to explore opportunities to cooperate with each other.
Participants will include: Yasuyuki Konuma, Executive Officer of Tokyo Stock Exchange; Kyu Yeon Lee, Executive Director of KOSPI market, Korea Exchange; Que Bo, Executive Vice President of Shanghai Stock Exchange; Tran Van Dzung, Chairman of Hanoi Stock Exchange; Tran Anh Dao, Executive Vice President of Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange; Tito Sulistio, President Director of Indonesia Stock Exchange, and Chew Sutat, Executive Vice President of Singapore Exchange. Collectively these stock exchanges account for 55% of all listed companies in the region, with an aggregate market capitalization of US$14.12 trillion (NT$440.4 trillion).
The morning session of the Forum will feature panels on the topic of “Opportunities and Challenges facing Asian Exchanges”, as well as remarks by Dr. Ming-Chung Tseng, Chairman of the Financial Supervisory Commission. The session will also be open to representatives from government, brokerages and other financial institutions, allowing all participants to learn more about the current operational environment facing stock exchanges and the need for more regional cooperation.
The afternoon session of the Forum will be a closed-door roundtable meeting on the topic of stock exchange cooperation and will be hosted by TWSE Chairman Sush-der Lee. Potential areas of cooperation to be discussed include cross-border trading links, cross-listings, index licensing, new product development, personnel exchanges and technical cooperation.
TWSE Chairman Sush-der Lee said, “We hope that the Asian Exchange Forum will encourage stock exchanges across the region to place a greater priority on cross-border cooperation in order to provide a more diverse and productive trading environment for global investors.”
