Dr. Wu, Rong-I, former Chairman of Taiwan Futures Exchange, has been appointed as the new Chairman of Taiwan Stock Exchange, and Mr. Song-Chin Su, the incumbent TSEC Senior Executive Vice President, as the Acting President effective July 2, 2007. The tenure of TSEC former Chairman, Dr. Gordon S. Chen, and former President, Mr. Samuel J.S. Hsu, expired at the end of June 2007.
The handover ceremony was held in the morning of July 2 at the TSEC Taipei 101 Tower. With the blessing of Taiwan capital markets’ regulatory body, FSC Chairman, Dr. Hu, Sheng-Cheng, SFC Director-General, Wu, Tang-Chieh, asked the new Chairman to set priority goals to increase the Taiwan securities market’s PE valuation, listed companies and market capitalization.
As a forward-looking veteran with a global vision and firm leadership, Dr. Wu, Rong-I is widely expected to reach these goals and fulfill his agenda with wisdom, seasoned experience and firm commitment. Though he chose to take low profile at the ceremony, Dr. Wu told the press that he would like to share his new market development blueprint with the public in the near future. Dr. Wu, Rong-I deems it an honor to steer and oversee the market, and vowed to devote himself to the further prosperity, stability and integrity of the Taiwan securities market. Moreover, with the charisma of his renowned dynamism and steadfast conviction, he pledges that he will listen, learn and lead the market further into the internationalization arena.
