Summary Of FESE Member Exchanges Statistics For March 2009

During the month of March 2009, more than 62 million electronic order book (EOB) equity trades were carried out on FESE Members’ Exchanges with a value of 557 billion EUR. This means a 16% increase compared to the previous month.

The equity market capitalisation of FESE Member exchanges increased to 5,552 billion EUR.

10 new companies were listed during the month of March within the FESE membership, 6 of which were listed through an IPO.

EOB ETFs trading volumes increased 23% in March 2009 while securitised derivatives increased by 14% compared to the previous month.

EOB Bond trading value reached 37 billion EUR last month, it decreased by 17% compared to the previous month.

The number of equity derivative contracts traded has increased by 30% compared to February 2009 and bonds derivative contracts decreased by 1% in the same period.

During March 2009, the open interest for equity derivatives was 208 million, this means a 5% decrease compare to the previous month. The open interest for bond derivatives was close to 25 million and decreased by 23% compare to February 2009.
