Summary Of FESE Member Exchanges Statistics For February 2009

During the month of February 2009, almost 50 million electronic order book (EOB) equity trades were carried out on FESE Members’ Exchanges with a value of 478 billion EUR. This means a 7% decrease compared to the previous month.

The equity market capitalisation of FESE Member exchanges decreased to 5,426 billion EUR.

12 new companies were listed during the month of February within the FESE membership, 6 of which were listed through an IPO.

EOB ETFs trading volumes increased 1% in February 2009 while securitised derivatives decreased by 6% compared to the previous month.

EOB Bond trading value reached 44 billion EUR last month, it increased by 53% compared to the previous month.

The number of equity derivative contracts traded has decreased by 12% compared to January 2009 and bonds derivative contracts decreased by 4% in the same period.

During February 2009, the open interest for equity derivatives was close to 220 million, this means a 5% increase compared to the previous month. The open interest for bond derivatives was close to 32 million and increased by 9% compared to January 2009.
