Fixed Income ETFs were the key topic of the event of SIX Swiss Exchange for professional investors.
On 9 November 2016, the second ETF/ETP Roundtable of the year took place at the ConventionPoint in Zurich. The event attracted more than 50 participants from the areas of asset management, client advisory and trading as well as institutional investors and representatives of pension funds. Danielle Mair, Senior ETFs & ETPs Sales Manager at SIX Swiss Exchange, welcomed the participants and provided an overview of the latest figures for the ETF segment of the exchange.
The following debate addressed the topic "Fixed Income ETFs as an all-purpose tool" and was moderated by Frédéric Papp, editor at Finews
. Bernhard Wenger, Head of SPDR ETFs Switzerland (SPDR), Marco Strohmeier, Private Banks (iShares), Gilles Boîtel, Business Development db x-tracker ETFs (Deutsche Bank) and Thomas Link, Director of the Investment Committee (Valitas Sammelstiftung BVG) discussed the investment options in the current low-interest-rate environment.
Current aspects such as market insecurity due to the outcome of the US presidential election, potential interest rate hikes by the end of this year and the relevance of durations related to interest rate policies were discussed in detail. Participants at the event also received insights into the investment strategy of a pension fund in the current economic environment.
